Narrative is many things: A first of its kind, dynamic website, a non-profit literary magazine, a learning tool, and perhaps most important, a community of readers – growing exponentially, with a readership over 250,000 and 4.6 million page views as 2017 draws to a close, and voting with each visit to the site: Yes! We want and need Narrative.

We are committed to offering the finest literature free to anyone, anywhere, online. A recent NEA study reports that in the last decade in America, we’ve lost 20 million readers, the steepest decline among those 18 to 30 years old. Of that same group, 50% never pick up a book, but 70% are online every day.
Please help us bring the beauty of words – whether story, poetry, or essay – to those who have turned away from books. In 2008, Narrative will publish more story writers and poets than The New Yorker. Literature is our culture, our past and future.
